Yeah, that was definitely a Runaway 5 reference. I'm about 9 hours in (just started chapter 11) and I've been digging it so far. There was a segment in the middle where I had a sub-par party forced on me AND I was fighting enemies that had abnormally high health; that was a slog. But then things evened out after that. I also ran into my first bonus boss and got utterly curb stomped, but the game told me going in that was going to happen.
