How did you get into RPGs?

The first RPG I bought was Super Mario RPG. My earliest memory of RPGs though was going over to a friends house - I remember him playing Final Fantasy on the NES during a late night with a group together also playing TMNT and Tecmo Bowl.

I almost forgot I played then bought SMRPG when that came out. Looking at the prices for it now, it's a good thing.
