The Captain Tsubasa series which had only one localized game on the NES known as Tecmo Cup Soccer Game. Thrilling title, right? Give it some time, it gets real good when you get all the star players from the teams you've beaten. One heck of an RPG party/team for sure.

Can't overstate how much I enjoyed Mario Golf: Advance Tour, so much fun. My only criticism is that it's light on the Mario elements (wacky courses, gimmicks, etc)

It also lets you transfer a created character to Mario Golf Toadstool Tour on the Gamecube via the GBA-GC transfer cable.

Skip Base Wars and play Mario golf on the Gameboy Color. Base Wars (NES) is not that great, but Mario Golf (GBC) is one of my very favorite RPGs and one of my favorite sports games.

Well the thing is I picked up base wars for $3 at a flea market saturday so(which I didn't seem to find as much as I recall seeming to of found the first time :-\ )....ha ha

And thanks everybody for the suggestions so far, I'm going to try and keep an eye out for these if I can help it(heck I've even been looking for lot for gameboy that contains the mario golf and tennis or either one....kinda want the n64 versions but ehh eventually. too bad the newest golf and tennis don't have the rpg elements....)

I don't know that it's actually good, but there was an unreleased version of Hit the Ice that had an RPG mode in it. There's a download link at the bottom of the page.

I know this topic is a few months old but there is also a baseball RPG for DSI Ware which is literally a RPG. Gets bad reviews, but has tempted me each time I have the money to purchase DSI points.

I am also wondering if any of the Football Managers series or the PS2 NFL game Head Coach have any RPG elements...although I take it they are more of a simulation of sorts.

While poker and blackjack aren't really sports, Casino Kid was an interesting gambling RPG.

Casino Kid was an awesome NES game but would have been better if everyone got the Japanese version, which had a lot more to it.

I think "MLB Life" mode in this counts:

PLAY KING'S FIELD.

I've always heard very good things about the Power Pros games. I've got one of them, just didn't put much time into it... I mean, c'mon, my backlog is huge! Cut a guy some slack!
