I don't like the game much, but the music kickass!

And sorry for my terrible engrish, i hope my comments don't seem rude or something. :)

No problem at all! :D
I'll definitely still play it, it'll just be lower priority for now. Thanks for your input!

For a random battle? Yeah, that's pretty awesome. Back when I was still in a band, we did a heavy metal instrumental version of "Fight On!", the boss battle theme from VII. I think that the theme you sent me would have been much better though.

I was actually gonna research the Ys series next. I currently don't have any of the games and don't have any in the "to buy" list.

Any one in particular you recommend?

Start with one of the Ys Book I & II compilations.

As far as I'm concerned the Turbo CD package is the "definitive" version, but you can't go wrong with the PSP or DS ports either.

As always :) I come recommending DQV & Phantasy Star IV!

I've never played the JPN PS2 DQ remakes but hear good things.

All the more reason I should get a Genesis next! I have PSIV on Steam but I know I'm not gonna enjoy that.. at this point, I don't even know why I bought the Genesis/MD classics there.

The only versions I have of DQV are the SFC and JP PS2 remake versions. I have the English patch for the PS2 version, but honestly have/had no intention of playing it... I guess I'd rather play it on SNES!
I was going to do a search about this, but I figure I'll just ask you now while I have ya. How were you able to play DQV? With it being in Japanese and all. I know there are English ROMs, repro carts, and yeah an English patch for the PS2 version as I mentioned. But I noticed that the guy I bought it from had some saves on there. (I'm assuming, of course, he doesn't read/speak Japanese :D) So yeah, how were you able to play it?

I bought the three DQ ports (updated graphics but still 2D & 16 bit inspired) new a few years back b4 the prices jumped.

We finally got V & VI in English... 15 years later :)

DQV takes places over a large time span, you see your character grow from a boy to a man, get to make life decisions (impacting story lines)... and there is the monster catching (years before Pokemon). I was really surprised at how addicted I got to this.

You can recruit monsters to join your party & switch them out with team members. Comes in VERY handy for tough bosses (ie, recruit a water based monster to fight the boss with fire attacks).

PSIV has such a cool art style. Classic. Get a Genesis!!! I'm a huge Sega fan but actually beat this one for the first time on the PS2 Sega collection. There's some pretty surprising plot twist for a 20 year old RPG.

Yeah, that's one of the things that particularly interests me about DQV, the idea of it being an "epic". I didn't know that about recruiting monsters, though.. that sounds pleasantly complicated.

haha yeah, I need to get a Genesis. It's definitely the next console on my list. I actually also had PSIV on PS3 as Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection with the intention of playing it there, but after finding my childhood Genesis controllers, I knew I "had to" play it on Genesis.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestions man!
