Looking for turn-based RPGs and Strategies for GBA and GBC

by casterofdreams Mon Aug 29, 2011 9:22 pm

So I got myself a Dingoo and it has some slowdowns. Rather than trying to tend to that by tuning it into the "Dinglux," which I can care less to do, I want games where slowdown isn't too bothersome. I know the FF titles and Pokemon have no slowdowns at all but I would like others as well. Thanks in advance (no pun).

GBA has Advance Wars 1&2. They are turn based. There may be an age of empire too but it could be on DS.

Riveria is a pretty good GBA RPG. It's a little different and isn't too terribly long, about 20h to complete. Instead of a traditional level up system of gaining experience, you have to train your characters in the use of certain weapons in order to raise their stats.

A really interesting, under-the-radar RPG for the GBC is Metal Walker. It's very Pokemon-inspired in that you collect data about enemies to enhance your abilities. The battle system is totally unique though; you have your robot and enemy robots on the screen and you select a direction/power and have yours bounce into the enemies (or traps/scanners you can set).

Riviera, Fire Emblem & Fire Emblem sacred stones, Final Fantasy Tactics advance, advance wars 1 & 2, golden sun 1 & 2. All great games, they should keep you going.

AoE on DS does NOT work well at all, as later stages will have 30+ units on both sides, try waiting for your turn!

Plenty of good games on GBA, does the OP has any other preference ?

Ahhh well I have never used a dingoo. I prefer playing on the actual handheld it was made for. Gives it the authentic feel.
