I'm at my parents house and pulled out the March, 1996 issue of Nintendo Power with Super Mario RPG on the front. In the Epic Center section they have a column titled "Enix Fans Speak Out". One of the quotes is from Edith Jeter of Puyallup, WA. She says,
Quote:
I'm now 76 years old. I may not live long enough to see Dragon Quest VI unless someone takes action soon"
I did a quick internet search of her name and location and found her obituary. She died January 3rd of this year. Dragon Quest VI comes out February 14th, 2011. She waited 15 years and.... Kinda tragic.

Her obituary which can be found at
http://obits.dignitymemorial.com/dignity-memorial/obituary-print.aspx?n=Edith-Jeter&lc=2629&pid=147602253&mid=4501742 says,
Quote:
Edith enjoyed reading, playing video games, and was an author of a family genealogy book that she proudly distributed to her family.
Update: You can read the Nintendo Power column here:
