Nice that they printed some art on there. Fun surprise.

I would joke that the shield is held in place with spit and prayer, but even that would be an exaggeration. It fits perfectly over the glob, but there's literally nothing to hold it in place. I guess friction was the idea, but it doesn't grip at all.

So it's still floating loose in my cart. I'll have to find some other way to stick it down. Would electrical tape be ok?

That black stuff is epoxy, which is used when you want to hide your circuit and/or prevent the contents of the chips from being dumped. It looks like the idea was to put that metal piece on the epoxy before it sets, but the epoxy doesn't bond well to it so it pops off easily.

I don't see how that metal piece would work as a shield because it would have to be connected to ground to do anything at all. I suppose it could be a heat spreader since we don't know what chips are under the glob, but if the chips needed to be cooled then you wouldn't use epoxy. You would use something that would transfer heat easily, like thermal pads or grease.

That white silkscreen box that runs around the perimeter of the glob, there's two solder pads that intersect the white line. If those are ground pads, you could use them to solder the metal piece in place, and then it would actually be a shield. Or, just use a few strips of double sided tape on top of the glob and press the metal piece back on.

Or just leave it off since it doesn't appear to be able to function as a shield or heat spreader, I don't see what purpose it has anyway. Though I could be wrong, perhaps it's only purpose is to look nicer than the epoxy. But I mean, if it's rattling around and the game is working then it doesn't appear to be doing any function.
I'm parting with some duplicate Blu-Ray and DVD movies. Check out this thread if interested.

Thanks for sharing the pics of inside of the cart, CFFJR. Crazy that they put some art inside the cart, can't say I've ever seen that before.

How are you all liking the gameplay of Paprium? I'm interested in purchasing a copy -- the graphics look great to me, gameplay looks fun too but I've heard mixed things.

It was definitely worth the initial price, but no way is it worth the after price. It's a great game in my opinion, tons of fun, loads of replay value and a lot of depth to the various gameplay systems, albeit with fairly standard combat mechanics.

I like it a lot personally.

Appreciate your input, Reprise. I really enjoy playing beat 'em ups, especially on the Genesis. It looks like the Magical Game Factory website is currently being updated, as the store isn't active at the moment. I'm going to keep tabs on the company/site, maybe I can purchase a copy down the line.

I wouldn't hold your breath, sadly. If Watermelon is to be taken at their word, then they really haven't recovered from Paypal supposedly closing their account and seizing all their funds (they supposedly shipped everything out and complete cost to themselves as they haven't received any money from sales). They tried to set up their store again after the initial preorder batches were sent out at Christmas and it all went down again for some reason. I honestly have no idea why Fonzie struggles to set up a functional company that operates like any normal company (you can watch various interviews with him now plus some decent documentaries on youtube), but I wouldn't trust them with my money again personally. And the most recent update they sent out is they're trying to sell all their games' assets and code and everything WM owns.

Also, they were trying to sell the game this year for like 4x value with a system that would increase the price as stock got lower.

I did see the documentary about Paprium and Watermelon Factory on St1ka's channel a few months ago. Was interesting to learn about the company in general, but it is sad that they can't get their act together. Even when Pier Solar was being released for the Genesis, I was hesitant to buy it directly from Watermelon, but ended up finding a retail priced copy in 2016 on Ebay.

At this point, I actually hope WM is able to either sell their IPs or collaborate with another company to reprint their games, as the development and release of Paprium was a total mess. I'm wondering if everyone who pre-ordered and backed Paprium even got their game.

Will be tough to get a copy, but I'm going to keep tabs online and hopefully I can get one down the line, similar to when I scored Pier Solar years after the release.

Thematically I could see a company like Retro-Bit buying them, except I suspect the asking price is likely astronomical.

That's a good point about the price, I could totally see Fonzie asking something ridiculous.

Piko Interactive is another company I wouldn't be surprised to see rerelease some of the games, as they seem to pick up a lot of IPs associated with the Genesis.

I still have not received my copy.

Maybe it’s time I tried to reach out. I’ll keep you posted.

Did you receive the email prompting you to confirm your shipping address? If not, it could have gone into your junk mail, in which case make sure you log into the site and go to your order to confirm your address. If you did all that, what's the status on your order page? Did you get the tracking code?

Hope you manage to get it sorted.
