Power issues with Game Gear

Post by SamuraiMegas »

I have 2 game gears, and both blink a red light and a black screen when powered on. One I haven't bothered to get the old batteries out of, but I plugged in he official DC adapter and I put batteries and tried the DC adapter on the second console too, and it gave me the same problem. The farthest I got was the system holding a glitchy black screen for about 20 seconds without reading the game.

Any idea what to do? Capacitors gone bad?

I always assume a Game Gear needs new capacitors these days. If they have not been changed, that is your 1st course of action (a pain, but necessary). Fixes 90% of all screen and power issues in my experience.
