I started using the GG again a bit thanks to Vampire from mas there, and I scored a EU game today I'm itching to try out as it is the sega game pack 4in1 which has rally racing(love this) and flash columns along with 2 sports for a whopping 99 cents (came in the case too.) Sega stupidly never released a rally game for the system until then, so shadows of sega rally or not, it's cool.

The Mortal Kombat port for Gamegear is surprisingly good for an 8-bit fighting game. In fact, there's not too many better one-on-one fighting games on any 8-bit system. It sure as hell beats the Gameboy version of Mortal Kombat.

Yes, I was impressed by MKII more, but they are both worthy (and cheap) fighters on the system.

Play control does take some getting used to, I think.

I keep forgetting the blood code for the 1st game when I fire it up (I have no such problem with the Genesis game, and I don't even own a copy of that port).

Well I find them fairly awful, but that's only because I have the only other fighters which are better made for Game Gear -- Neo-Geo ports of Fatal Fury Special and the first Samurai Shodown. They're VERY well done and control just like the arcade games. I traded off/gave away my MK1 and 2 games I think to mas there if I remember right.

If I ever have the itch again I know where to find MK1, MK2 at this one old guys shop I know of at a flea market(indoor) for just a few bucks. He's also got caesar's casino games, vr troops, power rangers, g-loc, colums, super columns, couple sonic titles, some card game title, and a few others of equally no-name worthy value. I went flipping through them today trying to find Urban Strike as I swore I saw it somewhere, but those somewhere's are drying up fast now. :\

No arguments from me, aside from saying they can be quite fun anyways (especially if you play on easy).
Agreed also that those Neo Geo games take the cake as the best fighters on the platform.
I've said it before, but it makes me sad that there was no Street Fighter II port. On the other hand, I also would have been downright offended if they tried to port the Master System abomination.

The Power Ranger games (and I think VR Troopers) are pretty enjoyable fighters as well. They fall somewhere in between the Neo and MK fighters in quality IMO.

I'm giving up on Urban Strike; just not worth it, so there goes my dream of a complete set unless I get extremely lucky in buying it in a bulk lot. Still,I think I may reach 200 titles one day (double my current count), but it's pretty slow going. I wonder if MAS will stuggle like me when he hits the triple digits.
Good luck on the search though.

I don't want to do a quote in a quote in a quote...
Agreed the SMS SF2 is an abomination that make the MK games look good. In all fairness MK1 isn't rotten, it's serviceable IF played on easy (and fun if you enable gore or it's a snore.) I'm just sad they didn't port over more SNK titles as Takara knew their shit with those insane Gameboy releases they did (Samurai Shodown 1 and especially 3, KOF 95-96, and others.) You know very well they would have ported that SMS SF2 game, cheap and easy as going SMS to GG take little as you're going up in power and color options.

So those annoying 5 guys in spandex battlers are fighting games too? I may just have to look them up and see, kind of curious if they're that or streets of rage like.

I'm not going to bother with Urban Strike, I as I said before am not one who can click with how that dumb franchise works as I tend to just not get the mechanics I guess as I tend to fly around, do whats on radar, yet still get my ass shot off or usually run out of gas despite finding the oil cans so it annoys me. I was mostly looking in all fairness to find it, see what the deal was, then use it to get Mega Man. ;)

I'm around 35-40 games, I don't intend to get a heap of them, just whatever I deem fun as I find it. That sorta-mega man-ish psychic world looks solid and it's cheap, and there is outrun europa, the first shinobi, space harrier, and various others I'd dig.

As it is now I have a bundle of them I'm going to pass on to mas for a solid discount and throw some of that bundle in free too. 7 games in all though I think he has one of them (road rash) which I don't seem to 'get' exactly either. I never seem to time punching people out, but I can also just run the race and win so it's kind of boring for me despite people loving the franchise.

He'll get (key title price wise here being the first) Fantasy Zone, Devilish, Road Rash, Chuck Rock (he has #2), Dynamite Headdy, G-Loc, and Lucky Dime Caper. Just need to figure the details out and if desired I have some GG clamshells too.

No doubt that the SNK games on Gamegear trump the Mortal Kombat games.
Come to think of it, SNK fighters trump Mortal Kombat on practically any platform. 8)

I know I have samurai shodown coming to me soon from Jmbarnes but I'm not sure what other games I got coming I forgot.
I am really getting into the game gear. If I can just get the LCD screen replaced then I'm golden

Or at the least get the LED strip in there removing the CFL and you're set with a more even balance of lighting, no blue halo around the edges too, and 2.5x the battery life while still with the faux appearance of being 'stock.'

Played sonic 1 last night on the gg. Man this was the first time I really played it and I love this version more than I do on the genesis. Maybe it's just that I've played the genesis versions of sonic so much that I e ended up hating the series. Now I look forward to come home and play it
