See I would love to own alpha 1 and 2 on the Saturn but I own the alpha series on the ps2. So for me why bother unless it's night and day between the ports

Well to be fair, it's perhaps the bona-fide, do it all, can't go wrong, never toppled, preferred home port of A3 to perhaps fan boys and for certain, people that simply don't know any better. Fact is, the PS2 version is the best version for those who truly want the closest "arcade to home" conversion of the game...

So from what cd ages is proposing the alpha anthology is the way to go when it comes to playing street fighter alpha series on a home console. I own the street fighter anniversary controller on the ps2 it's not the Saturn controller but it works for me

That's exactly what i'm saying. Look, as far as i know the Saturn versions of the Alpha series are solid efforts and were good ports for their time. Alpha Anthology is not only a good port of entire series conveniently on one disc, but perhaps the best fighting game compilation made for the PS2. It's really the next best thing outside of playing these games on CPSII arcade hardware.
Can't say i'm a fan of those anniversary controllers. Start and Select buttons are inconveniently placed near the face buttons :-(
They are a great novelty controllers tho.

The controller isn't that bad. When ever I'm into fighting games I use that controller. But I see your point when it comes between Saturn and ps2. The alpha Aries or any 2d fighting for ps2 is such better ports of just better games.

If that's what you got and it works for you then that's great. I can deal with using the default PS2 controller, unless I need to play seriously. Then I just resort to using an arcade stick.

That's another items I want for my game room. Arcade sticks

I prefer the bigger looking characters of the Saturn versions. Also the remixed soundtracks on Alpha 1 and 2, extra modes on 3, and the Saturn controller. The only thing I miss from the PS2 disc is the dip switches and no loading.

I do want to say that the Saturn model 2 controller imo is the best controller for any fighting game. It just feels so right and comfortably.
About the street fighter games, after thinking last night for a while I own the 2d powerhouse called the sega Saturn. It would be a shame for me as an owner to not own the 2d fighters. Right now as for funding for my games I still need to pay off nightmare for the everdrives for my Genesis and snes so I'm thinking like I said I gotta wait for march or April. I waited this long for a Saturn. Lets just hope I get as lucky as I did last year.
