Re: How is your Saturn gaming going?

I just purchased DoDonPachi today on eBay for $36 plus shipping. I am really looking forward to playing it and am hoping it is true that there is a lot less slow down than in DonPachi. I just love the commentator screaming alongside the action and the killer music.

I did the bulk of my collection before 2003. All thrift store/flea market finds.

I don't do eBay.

This past year, I've gotten two/three decent games. Not complete, but good enough for me.

Only about 15% of my collection is CIB. I keep all my 100+ games in a binder.

Its too late, and too painful for my wallet to attempt collecting again.

The Saturn has gotten very expensive in the past few years.

But at least I have plenty of games to play

I started to collect in the mid 2000's and quit once prices started to really jump. I figured if I just waited awhile, people would stop paying stupid prices and the game values would drop. Boy was I wrong lol. Games I could of bought for $50 back when I stopped are now going for $120(looking at you House of the Dead). I'm soooo close to finishing my personal collection it hurts.

I had to sell off a lot of my Saturn collection before the crazy increase in prices (prior to 2006) to help pay for college and other related expenses. I had to go Japan only when I started rebuilding the collection because the US prices are beyond ridiculous for me. I'm thankful that I can at least obtain the Japanese releases at reasonable prices.

For me I have been on a Dragon Force Binge as I personally love that game to death and every time I play that game I spend a couple of hours on it too addicting. And on the action side playing through batman and robin graphics are nothing to write home about but love the cheesy gameplay and the digitized graphics.

Luv me some dragon force. I have the Leon disc and was given the Dragon disc by a friend which I guess is the rarest? Although it doesn't work that well. Might just need to clean it tho.

Would you guys say Dragon force is a good enough game to get even if one was not familiar with the genre?

From what I've read the game is not difficult, so why not? Looks pretty cool.

It's not. I've played the heck out of the Saturn games I do have. And it's completely dry around my local parts when it comes to Saturn games. I don't even see sports titles anymore.

A lot of the Saturn games I want are now out of my price range, and the ones that aren't still aren't good enough to pay the prices people are asking on eBay/Amazon. Saturn collecting has always been expensive, but it's starting to get so bad it's becoming a niche thing.

My entire pathetic Saturn collection right now:

-Astal
-Bug
-Daytona USA
-Hang-On GP
-Panzer Dragoon
-Road Rash
-Shinobi Legions
-Sega Bootleg Sampler (Demo Disc)
-Sega Rally Championship
-Sonic 3D Blast
-Tomb Raider
-Virtua Cop 1 & 2 (with a 3rd-party light-gun)
-Virtua Fighter 2
-WWF: WrestleMania: The Arcade Game

I just wanted to add, that there needs to be more love out there for Shinobi: Legions on Saturn. It's my favorite game in my Saturn collection. Great Shinobi 2D action-platforming, with slick Mortal Kombat-eque graphics, and oh-so-awesome live ninja cutscenes between levels:

Good grab! It is much better than DonPachi. IDK what they did with the first one, but the slowdown at spots is abysmal. The DDP games are probably my favorite of the Cave shmups. If you have a 360, the PAL version of DDP: Resurrection works on US systems.

Real simple. Follow the chart in the back of the instruction booklet explaining who is better at fighting who and the rest is cake. Oh and don't forget to promote your generals!

Shinobi 3 is still my favorite but Legions does hold a special place in my heart lol god I love those cut scenes! Didn't care for the boss battles compared to the previous games but cutting guys in half and being able to hit back shurikens makes up for that.
