Well in a pretty shitty marketing move by Sega, they have had a bunch of youtube channels shut down for having videos of shining force 3 or shining the holy ark. Apparently they wanted their new shining ark game to be more easily found in searches and not be confused with older shining games.

One of my buddies who runs a Lets Play channel with a bunch of SF material was shut down recently. At first he thought it was a griefer using a fake sega email account. Looks like this is for real though.

Seems bad on Segas part to shut down the work and effort of a lot of diehard fans for something like this.

Not to mention bad publicity and then lack of free publicity. Not to disparage the quality of Sega products from the early 90s, but seeing shit like this just makes me facepalm even harder at the moronic statements dreamcast4ever used to make about Sega Corp today.

Yeah, I heard about it on Twitter from a few people.

On the plus side, I did not know there was a new Shining game coming out.

That is really sad to hear. One of the big features of my YouTube channel is my "Sega Genesis Challenge" video series. I certainly hope that Sega reconsiders their stance on fan channels.

I applaud them making an effort for actually publicizing a game for once. It's an area they've certainly neglected over the years. However, they're not goign about it the best way.

I need some details about this new shining game mostly just want to know what platform its going to be on, and if its going to be an ark game is it just going to be first person like the other ones.

Edit quick googling found a trailer of some anime opening it seemed like. It is also supposed to release in Japan in February 2013 for the psp. Color me uninterested.

That's what Wikipedia says, but I wonder why PSP and not Vita?

Meh... Shining games have been a joke since Camelot stopped making them. Pretty much zero interest.

PSP has a bigger user base and is still going more than strong in Japan. I assume we'll be seeing PSP releases in Japan for awhile still.

If it's on PSP in Japan that means it'll only be a digital download when it finally arrives in the US. If it's localized at all, that is.

Sounds like Sega is doing what it does best: Alienating fans. Haven't bought a Sega made game post DC and it doesn't look like that will change anytime soon.
