Dreamcast VGA box vs VGA cable?

I noticed that the Racketstore carries a DC VBA Box and a DC VGA cable. What the heck is the difference out of curiosity?

The world is coming to an end! Gameboy Guru noise got a Playstation, now looking at getting a Dreamcast! :lol:

Get the VGA box. It has the bypass Composite/S-Video output for the Dreamcast games that do not support VGA. Most DC games do work with VGA but you mind find one you like that doesn't.

LOL, unless I trip over a DC at a yardsale for peanuts, I'm not getting one anytime soon. I have plenty of consoles and games to keep me busy as is. I'm just curious. I just like to know this kind of stuff so that I know. Shrug.

BTW, in all my yardsaling, I've only ever seen one for sale. And the people wanted like $50 for it. Pffffft. It's funny but I've seen Saturns and Master Systems for cheaper at yardsales.

also, i would love to note the s-video quality on that VGA box is much superior compare to a regular s-video cable for the Dreamcast.

so just to clarify, you guys are saying that even though VGA output is native to the DC hardware, not every game actually is compatible with it? Weird.

I am pretty sure he's said that his next big gaming hardware purchase will be a gaming PC. I suggest we start recommending PC exclusives to him (esp. if available on Steam) so he can begin planning.

oh, so you already have enough recommendations? What hardware are you going with? What games are high on your list?

an Apple IIe. I'm gonna use it to emulate Saturn games though.
