Re: DoDonpachi Hit PSN (there are lots of shmups on Japanese ps)

Yeah Gundemonium and its sequel are pretty alright. I posted a review over here: m Main point that bugs me is that for some reason a number of the enemies don't wear any underwear. Granted it's hard to notice because the screen is usually filled with bullets and/or explosions but that still weirded ...

Re: Whoa whoa whoa nobody's talking about Mamotte Knight?

Yeah I think the latter two difficulties were designed more for experts and/or multiple players.

Whoa whoa whoa nobody's talking about Mamotte Knight?

This just might be the next indie classic. It's already in the runnings for my GOTY of 2010 and everyone that's played it likes the hell out of it. Still I look through all the forums I frequent and nobody's talking about it. Are they too busy playing it? Yeah that's it that's the case false alarm m...

Re: How do the PSP collections fare in terms of accuracy?

At one time or another I owned the Gradius, Parodius, and Salamander collections.
I can assure you they're all quite well done though IIRC none of them support coop. Otherwise they're flawless ports.

Re: I hate Thunder Force II

Worst part is once you play 3 & 4 you'll never want to go back(or forward, part 5 was a bit of a disappointment IMO). Take the Genesis/Megadrive for example. Tons of 2D shooters were released from 1989 through 1992 but once Thunder Force IV hit everyone packed up and went home cause they knew th...

Re: What's the damn fuss about Guardian Heroes?

It's certainly not without flaws. In fact I could go on all day about the various balance issues(Nicole breaks the game) and problems with the game's design without even so much as mentioning the multiplayer. On the other hand it's pure chaos and features no shortage of dumb fun. Course I wouldn't d...

Re: Wii-Hidden Gems

Ultimate Shooter Collection was worth it for Radilgy alone as I felt it stole the show from the other two. Plus every time I play it I can't help but think of it as if it were a Jet Set Radio shmup due to it's art style, and general Japanese quirkiness. I prefer Karous since even though the art-sty...

Re: Wii-Hidden Gems

Ghost Squad really doesn't get enough credit. It's an amazingly deep gun-game and has a very cool difficulty system where the game adds more missions and tougher challenges as you get better(plus you can level up and get new weapons/costumes). Also Ultimate Shooter Collection is worth it for Radilgy...

Re: Dreamcast platformers?

Super Magnetic Neo really harkens back to older-platformers that are very dependent on learning the mechanics and design of the game in order to survive. It's not as accessible as something like Sonic Adventure but it can be quite rewarding if you can get into it. For Napple Tale you're better off j...
