Re: Racketboy Month of Horror 14: Please Call First

Freaky (2020) - Freaky Friday is honestly one of my guilty pleasures, and I thought using a serial killer twist to it worked really well. Great humour to it, especially Vince Vaughn's performance. Despiser (2003) - Really low budget to the form that it's outsider art. It's incredibly silly, especial...

REPO Man wrote:No. An ending that ties up all loose ends is best. And the Samurai Jack ending did just that.

How to feel about tv shows and films with ambiguous endings intentionally? It is a different case than a show getting cancelled before it can be tied up, but it also doesn't tie all the loose ends.

Re: Racketboy Month of Horror 14: Please Call First

Below (2002) - A fairly simple ghost story, but I found that this was made a lot better than usual by a) its WW2 submarine setting, and b) the psychological aspect of it. Making a setting where people can't escape, and is already claustrophobic in the first place made this exciting. The dialogue was...

Re: Racketboy Month of Horror 14: Please Call First

Annihilation kind of felt like a bootleg Tarkovsky in a way to me. Intruder (1989) - I am honestly shocked. Some of it is a bit silly in the standard 80s slasher way, but it's definitely a cut above the usual quality of theirs. Some weird twists, but the rare cases of humour still works, which usual...

Re: Games Acquired 2023

Was at a geek convention and got these. I did almost get Biker Mice from Mars too. I never heard of what it was before (a 90s tv show looking it up), cause wtf lol.

Btw if anyone uses letterboxd. I am WAY behind on logging everything I've seen, and don't really wanna seek them out (if I come across something I've seen I'll add as watched), but I did make a horror list if anyone wants some recs: https://letterboxd.com/pretentiouship/l ... -hipsters/

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts

There's a major geek event coming in my city this weekend, and there's like a dozen video game vendors. I'm aiming for slightly more expensive games, ps1 and ps2 preferably (but any CD/dvd console is fine), but with enough cash to spare that if I find anything super weird I can still get it (like th...

Re: Racketboy Month of Horror 14: Please Call First

Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) - This was infamous for, obvious reasons. But, I think that now we are aware of it I was wondering to see if it's as bad as people say. It's certainly very silly, in fact too silly for me, but I thought this was extremely well directed. Some fantastic shots ...

Re: Racketboy Month of Horror 14: Please Call First

The Angry Red Planet (1959) - Fantastic monsters, and I love the weird filter they use to show that they are on Mars. Unfortunately the scenes of them hanging out in their space ship felt quite dry. It seems like that's the standard for 50s scifi/horror b films. It does remind me, The Lost Skeleton ...

A coworker recently got that surgery, but he worked the next day (!!! WAT) and low and behold, it tore again. Definitely needed more time to heal.
