Re: SNES Console Revision Differences. SHVC-CPU-01 vs 1CHIP-

Can anyone else with 1CHIP or SNES-Mini consoles test those games mentioned above? Need more data before adding them to my original post as potential problematic games.

Re: So.... Some SNESes output YPbPr.....

SNES_is_the_Best, I recently acquired an old Super Nintendo since I want try and modify it to output component video and you were right about Super FX games being slower on the mini, I played Doom on the older SNES and it ran so fast compared to the mini! And this is a Doom that I overclocked with ...

Re: Which SNES is best? The SHVC-CPU-01? Or the 1CHIP-Mini?

I find it really odd that you flat out ignore the shadows/bleeding on that image. The top image is obviously Super Mario World on the SNES, and in both pictures, to the right side of Mario and the blocks you can clearly see bleeding/shadows. The middle and bottom images of the MegaDrive and PC Engi...

Re: So.... Some SNESes output YPbPr.....

Yes it is true. Uhh nope, I actually have a top loader open in front of me this second and that Nintendo Power quote is completely wrong. The top loader has the same amount of chips as the original Famicom; you've got the CPU, PPU, two 74368 buffers, two SRAM chips, a 74373 multiplexer and a 74139 ...

Re: So.... Some SNESes output YPbPr.....

Unfortunately, the top loader NES has crammed some of the original chips into 1 chip, which "may or may not" cause minor hiccups with some games. That's not true at all, the top loader uses the exact same chips as the front loader and original Famicom so games will play exactly the same n...

Re: Which SNES is best? The SHVC-CPU-01? Or the 1CHIP-Mini?

I'm using the original revision SNES, which seems to have relatively poor composite output, but looks fine with s-video. Yours doesn't have the S-ENC encoder right? The early SHVC has the BA6592F, while the later SHVC has the S-ENC (numbers vary). The composite is noticeably better on the S-ENC (al...

Re: Which SNES is best? The SHVC-CPU-01? Or the 1CHIP-Mini?

I bought a scart cable from a reputable cable maker on ebay who states her cables are properly shielded, which they were no more buzzing. I know who your talking about. Her cables are good. I myself bought one. But compared to the Official SNES Cable, there is a big difference. No multi-coax design...

Re: Which SNES is best? The SHVC-CPU-01? Or the 1CHIP-Mini?

ohhh so thats what the DNR setting does on my HDTV! I always turned it off because it added horrible input lag with no visible difference in picture clarity. When it was turned off there seemed to be no noticeable input lag. Good info on all this. Though I use an arcade monitor in a box as my RGB s...

SNES Console Revision Differences. SHVC-CPU-01 vs 1CHIP-Mini

In 1995, Nintendo - in an effort to cut costs - did a major revision to their SNES. They consolidated their CPU, PPU1, and PPU2 into 1 Single Chip, known as the "1CHIP", and they also consolidated their Multi-Chip APU (audio processing unit) into 1 Single Chip. Performance wise, things cha...

Re: So.... Some SNESes output YPbPr.....

This post of yours has some true points but the SNES mini is still the best SNES revision out there once RGB modded. That post of mine that you quoted is old, and I have recently updated it to concur with my final conclusions. Maybe you should check it out as it doesn't match what you quoted. Befor...
