Re: Nearly 200k people using SNES controllers on Steam
Haha, I have two versions of Rocksmith and I don't think that's possible... but I had the same thought initially. As a guitar player myself, I agree that shouldn't be possible. I've never owned Rocksmith but my uncle does and I have played it on his Xbox One. I don't see how you would be able to ge...

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
1: I hate that we are already hearing all the next gen talk. I really don't feel like we need it yet, and it makes me think some of the stuff I'm waiting on will be gimped on current gen while they make the "real" version for next gen. I'm with you here. I don't really see the need for a ...

Re: PC build thread
I’m sure I will but it will be a while. When I do, I’m sure I will stay around the x60/x70 level (or AMD equivalent) depending on price.

Re: PC build thread
If you can pull off that i5-8400, Intel is your price/performance winner, even with Spectre mitigation patches. Also, don’t settle for the stock cooler. Intel’s is bad enough you don’t want to settle. AMD’e typically is. So... here's a question. A lot of the gaming benchmarks I've seen show the i5-...

Re: PC build thread
I didn’t realize the stock Intel cooler was so bad. I was kind of leaning AMD just because there seem to be more choices in my price range. I assume almost any modern Ryzen CPU will be a significant upgrade over my FX 8320. I am brand agnostic when it comes to PC parts though. It’s strictly price pe...

Re: PC build thread
I'm trying to keep the total under $350. That almost certainly means a CPU less than $200. m m m At right around $200, the Intel Core i5-8400 looks like the winner for gaming performance, although with Intel chips you tend to need a 3rd party cooler if you want low noise and high performance. But y...

Re: PC build thread
Thanks for all the helpful advice! I really don't NEED 16GB of RAM like I have now. I've never done anything that used all of it - or any combination of things for that matter. My PC is primarily a box that plays games, so 8GB is probably plenty for now. I will definitely look into 2x 4GB sticks tho...

Re: PC build thread
With that sort of budget limit, I would look more at going lean on RAM to start (since DDR4 is still up in price) and shooting for a better CPU - probably an i5 8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, depending on what you can find a good price on and what your overall priority is. Can likely fit an 8GB DIMM and a b...

Re: PC build thread
I'm due a "platform" upgrade - by that, I mean CPU, Motherboard, and RAM. I am currently running a FX-8320 (OC'd to 8350 speeds on air cooling) with 16GB of DDR3. Unfortunately, my budget is a little low and is likely to stay that way for the foreseeable future. I need to stay under $350 t...
