Re: Why are some gamers so desperate to go pro digital?

I think it helps to remember that game purchases (physical or digital) are mostly buying the right to play the game. You don't "own" the game, you own a license to play the game. With a physical disc, it's tied directly to that medium. With a digital purchase, it's tied to the account/cons...

Re: Why are some gamers so desperate to go pro digital?

My main issue with digital on the consoles is the strict DRM that ties a game to that device. This is not a problem in the Steam-world. If my computer explodes tomorrow, I can still download those games under my Steam account on another PC. The convenience is unprecedented. If my 360 or PS3 died tod...

Re: The 2013 NFL Season Thread

Cam is far from an elite quarterback right now, but he's progressed. The sulking has improved this year, as witnessed anytime he throws an interception. These days, he seems to be able to shrug it off and keep playing. The previous two seasons, he would have gone to the bench, head down, silent, and...

Re: The 2013 NFL Season Thread

Right now the Panthers are just relying on their defense which has been the main catalyst for their string of wins. Cam hasn't had to do much. Carolina has one of the best front 7s right now. Steve Smith isn't near as much of a factor this year and has been shut down in games. Olson has been there ...

Re: Job Hunting - Lifestyle - Your Experience?

All the clichés are true, money really can't buy happiness. A lot of companies fail to acknowledge that personal/family time is just as important as your time on the job. My previous job carried that 24/7 mentality and I only lasted a year before I took a position somewhere else. I've never had to t...

Future-proofing downloadable titles (XBLA/PSN/VC)

Obviously, downloadable titles have really made an impression on this generation of consoles. Some of the best games released were digital-only, while others purchased AAA titles digitally. As it stands now, PSN and XBLA games are tied to your account (and console, to an extent), while Wii Virtual C...

Re: WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5

I'll be watching this closely. I do not have room for a CRT and I'm "over" the whole song-and-dance of hooking up old consoles to an HDTV. As such, I've moved to emulation. I would love for a good clone to fill the void and allow me to start collecting carts again. The fact that they seem ...

Re: Can you game on a PC w/o Steam?

I look at it this way... Sure, Steam acts as a form of DRM. Sure, you're tied to a service that could hold your games hostage or take them away at any point. BUT The incredible deals more than make up for those inconveniences. If I was paying Gamestop-esque prices for games, I would be a lot less le...

The arcade stick would be more promising if it was sold as a stand alone item.

Actually, you're in luck. The stick is available by itself for $50 and uses a standard USB connection.

Evidently it works with both PC and PS3 (and maybe others with an adapter).

Re: Official Neo Geo X Gold System details and price announc

Unless you're interested in the novelty or potential mod-ability, it probably makes more sense to pick up the SNK compilation that came out for the PS2 and Wii a while back. It might be missing a few games, but it can also be found for about $10 these days. Add in your choice of arcade stick and you...
