Re: Did I kill my NES?
It's unlikely that you fried your connector, since it is a passive component. If you put it back wrong or shorted the pins, you could burn out other components. As I recall, the connector can only be installed one way, so it's unlikely that you put it back wrong. You should check if you shorted any ...

Re: Poison's legacy: Newest God of War won't have female ene
I concur, dsheinem, we are going to have to agree to disagree on what is sexualized violence. 1. I'd like to see that list of texts that support this view of ancient Greece. m m ^^(much of these NSFW, obviously) I was expecting you to show that God of War followed a tradition of depictions of Greek ...

Re: Poison's legacy: Newest God of War won't have female ene
Let's start by talking about journals. Aside from the impact factor itself being a highly flawed system, the argument doesn't hold water here since we're talking about Game Studies research vs. psychological research. Games and Culture is THE preeminent journal for Game Studies scholarship (which is...

Re: Poison's legacy: Newest God of War won't have female ene
Look, threetoedd, get this through your head. Here are the basics: 1) Almost no one "likes" "sexualized violence" and I agree with you that, when shown in media, it can lead to people becoming more accepting of some pretty bad stuff. However, I STRONGLY disagree with your assert...

Re: Poison's legacy: Newest God of War won't have female ene
What is the specific context that you believe justifies the claim that the Sony Dev Team voluntarily removing sexualized violence against women is a bad thing? I NEVER said NOR do I believe that removing sexualized violence against women in GOW is a bad thing. In fact, I said it makes sense as a wa...

Re: Poison's legacy: Newest God of War won't have female ene
The kind of violence that the devs are voluntarily removing: 1. Makes up a small fraction of the overall violence in the series Which means nothing for or against having it in. You're right, but since several people seem to think that either the original article or that I am saying God of War is ba...

Re: Poison's legacy: Newest God of War won't have female ene
My argument is that the vast majority of violence in God of War, especially against women, isn't just mindless "violence for the sake of violence." It is violence that is character driven, story driven, genre driven, etc. You are essentially arguing that this game is bad becasue it is vio...

Re: Poison's legacy: Newest God of War won't have female ene
History and context. History and context. History: Anyone who has even a modicum of understanding about the influences that shape the games will easily recognize that Kratos is a caricatured sendup of a long tradition of exaggerated, stereotyped Spartan warriors who fight, fuck, murder, and plunder...

Re: Poison's legacy: Newest God of War won't have female ene
He'd have to be talking about how he loved to keep women down, how they deserved it, and how inferior women are in every way. He isn't doing that. So, after twirling his mustache and declaring himself to be a sexist, would he actually have to tie a woman to some railroad tracks or would just saying...

Re: Poison's legacy: Newest God of War won't have female ene
I also think it's pretty obvious that what everyone in this thread finds sexist and bad is that violence against one sex is regarded as different, more worthy of consideration or more important than violence against the other. I do not know what yo tell you, Threetoed, to understand this. threetoed...
